| Fans slow down in Jammu, chill returns to Valley | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Apr 16 The winter capital city and its adjoining areas are feeling an unprecedented pleasant weather due to fresh rains but it is return of an unexpected chill in the Valley and upper regions of Jammu region. Intermittent rainfall for past few days coupled with come fresh snowfall on the Pir Panchal ranges have slowed to the fans in Jammu and adjoining areas. In upper reaches of the region and Kashmir Valley the conditions are back to chilly winter even as flood threat if looming large in the Valley. Snowfall in upper reaches and rainfall in the plains of Kashmir has renewed the cold wave as the day temperature plummeted by nearly four degreees, forcing the people back into winter clothes. Moderate snowfall was recorded at Sonamarg, Baltal, Mahagunas top along the route to Amarnath cave shrine, upper reaches of Gulmarg and Pahalgam areas while moderate rainfall was reported from the plains including Srinagar city, officials said. The snow and rain had caused a dip of 3.7 degrees in day temperature in the valley to 15.9 degrees celsius. The temperature recorded on Tuesday was more than three degrees below normal for this time of the year. The dip in temperature forced the valley residents back into winter wear which they had discarded due to bright sunshine and above normal temperature during March. |
