| Its cheap politics: Vakil | | | Early Times Reprter Jammu | Apr 16 Seen as a firefighting mouthorgan of the Congress in times of troubles, the Social Welfare Minister Abdul Ghani Vakil has described the Mufti Mohammad Sayeed’s dual currency formula as a cheap political stunt. “We will never allow the proponents of the idea to succeed in their hidden intentions”, Vakil was quoted as saying while addressing a party meeting in Rajouri. The Minister said that congress was committed to thwart every malafide effort of irresponsible political forces operating in the state, adding ‘national interest’ not power, holds paramount importance to the party and its leadership. Vakil further that such gimmicks were aimed at hoodwinking people for vote bank politics. He said gone were the days when people were swayed by catchy slogans and false propaganda. The wise people of the state having borne the burnt of politics of deceit, earlier also would never give heed to slogans of emotional exploitation, he maintained. “How come a regional party with no competence on foreign issues float suggestions to mislead people”, Vakil questioned saying single currency was the main characteristic feature of nation states, which he said symbolizes unity, integrity and sovereignty of country. In electoral democracy, parties should contest elections on practicable planks and slogans worth implementation, he said and added people know better which party is doing what for them. Congress, he said has single point agenda of development of state in a peaceful atmosphere for which Azad led government was seriously working. “If you are satisfied with our performance-support us whole heartedly”, he appealed people. |
