| Non-political organization to ‘revive Kashmiriyat’ | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Apr 17 With the purpose of reviving the age old composite culture of Kashmir, a non-political organization in the name and style of United Kashmiriyat Forum has been launched on Thursday with the objective of the return of Kashmiri Pandits topping its agenda. Addressing media persons in a press conference here today, the founder members of UKF belonging to both Kashmiri Pandit and Kashmiri Muslim communities said that unless and until the non-political people belonging to all the communities come to the fore, the revival of Kashmiriyat was impossible. Lambasting the successive state as well as central governments, President UKF, Bharat Raina said that since the politicians of state and center have failed to rejuvenate the Kashmiriyat from last twenty years, it becomes the moral responsibility of common man to work for the noble mission. " The primary objective of the Forum is to return the Kashmiri Pandits back to their homes and hearths with honour and dignity as the successive governments have miserable failed to create an atmosphere for their safe return," he added. He further said that during all these twenty years successive governments have only used the expression of " package" for the community but practically did nothing to ensure their return. " Successive governments, both center and state have been insincere and unplanned and as a consequence they befool the community members by guaranteeing their return back to their homes and within a shot span of time change their earlier decision and plan for their temporary rehabilitation out side the valley," Raina added. When asked that whether a youth of the community would return at a time when he is well settled outside the valley, Jagar Nath Sagar, Spokesman UKF intervened and said, " My child is well settled engineer in United States drawing more than one Lakh twenty thousand rupees per month but believe me he weeps loudly when he remembers even the broken window of his house." Raina, however said that we demand that the similar avenues as are available in other parts of country be created in Kashmir so that the youth lot of the community returns back" What we lack is the industrialization in the valley once it gets industrialized and the multinational business units are established there every body would prefer to work at the place of his birth,' he added. In response to other query, Raina said that the UKF has interacted with common masses belonging to both the communities and the response from both the sides has been terrific. " Apart from leaders of both the communities, we have talked to common masses and the reaction has been favorable at all levels," he said. When asked that why the number of KPs in valley is decreasing since 1996, he said that it was not the harassment or the fear that has decreased the number but the lack of employment avenues which has compelled the youth of valley to migrate. Others who addressed the press conference included Tahir Mehraj, Vice President, Fayaz Ahmed, General Secretary, Ali Mohammed Makroo Secretary, Mohd. Aslam Dar, Secretary and Jagar Nath Sagar, Spokesman. |
