| Vakil for enhanced outlays to backward districts | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Apr 17 Minister for Social Welfare Mr. Abdul Gani Vakil has asked officers to put more efforts for carrying out development activities for faster development of the state. Chairing a review meeting of district officers here today, the Minister expressed dismay over the shortfall of achievements in some sectors. He said incompletion of targets despite availability of grants and with no apparent constraint depicts incompetence of officer that needs to be reflected in APRs Mr. Vakil assured to provide enhanced outlays and timely releases of additional grants under different schemes to Rajouri district after he was informed about delay in release of additionality during last financial year. He said far-flung and backward districts like Rajouri needs to given added attention to their speedy progress. Earlier, District development Commissioner Rajouri Rafiq Ahmad Sheikh apprised the meeting that Rs 59.34 crore accounting for 99 percent of the total allocation were utilized under district plan during last fiscal. He said in R&B sector six bridges and 142 culverts have been constructed and 66.30 km road length has been black-topped, 42.40 km shingled, 25.25 km made fair weather. In PHE sector 8 moharas have been provided drinking water facilities, one water supply scheme augmented in power sector 70 hamlets have been provided electricity besides upgrading 39 sub-stations and creating 70 new sub-stations. It was given out in the meeting that 135 school buildings and 339 additional classrooms have been constructed under SSA while 48 additional classrooms besides renovation of 58 school buildings. Under health sector, the meeting was informed that 9 PHC and Sub Centre buildings have been completed besides completion of 12 staff quarters. In rural development sector 2731 infrastructure works have been completed during the period besides 425 dwelling units raised for BPL families. |
