| CITU demands release of salaries | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Apr 19 Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU)J&K State today has taken serious note on developing of grave situation at Coal Mines at Kalakote Addressing a press conference, Nirdosh Uppal, joint secretary of the CITU said that the workers are struggling for clearance of seven months wages, covering of causal workers under Coal Mines Provident Fund Scheme, Release of 17 point COLA, Conduction of DPC and Implementation of SRO-43. He informed that the workers are on fast unto death inside 500 metres below ground for the last 12 days but the State Govt and Management have become mute spectator and are in practice of delayed payments of wages and not covering the workers under CMPF scheme etc, this is the inhumane barbaric attitude. Uppal demanded release of Funds for Salary / Wages, deduction of CMPF in favour of Causal Workers and stoping of one day break after three months, deduction of CMPF in favour of statutory mining staff, conservation of COLA into DA, conduct of DPC, implementation of SRO-43, release of 17 Points COLA related to the year of 2004 and 2005 may please be released and funds for the said purpose be provided, emersion of Mining Units. Leaders of the CITU State Committee appealed to all unions of workers to come and support the genuine cause of the aggrieved workers. They warned the concerned management and administration to settle the issue otherwise we will be compelled to intensify the struggle. |
