| Chushot in Leh gets block status: Mula Ram, Jora formally launch | | | Early Times Reporter Leh | Apr 19 With getting block status, the people of Chushot and its surrounding villages would achieve tremendous development in all sphere of life. This was stated by the J&K Minister for Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, Mr. Mula Ram at a grand function at Chushot today. The Commerce and Industries Minister, Mr. Nawang Rigzin Jora also attended the function. The two formally announced Chushot to function as block from today. Mula Ram said that the Government resolved to ensure balanced developments in all the three regions of the State and it was the result of commitment of the Ghulam Nabi Azad led Government, that Leh has received additional Teshils and blocks, upgradation of medical institutions and educational institution, model villages, road connectivity and improvement in power supply etc. Appreciating the role of Jora, the Rural Development Minister said that these spectacular developments which were registered in Leh during the past few years was the out come of Jora’s endeavors The Minister said that Ladakh will have further development as the Srinagar- Leh High-way is being developed as a National Highway. By 2012 each and every villages all over the State is proposed to be connected with motorable road, he added. Mr. Mula Ram said that the present Government has a comprehensive programme to uplift the women section by empowering them and the Government is very much committed for 33% reservation to the women in important institutions. Addressing to the gathering, Jora congratulated the people of Chushot and its vicinity for fulfilling their long standing demand. Touching some important achievements which were materialized in Leh during the regime of Ghulam Nabi Azad, Mr. Jora said that Rs.650 crores cost Nimo-Basgo Project, Rs.400 crores cost Srinagar-Leh National High way, Rs.243 crores cost Nimmu-Padum-Darcha road, Rs.20 crores for setting up of Tourism Development Authority Leh, upgradation of Higher Secondary Schools from 5 to 13 numbers, upgradation of 8 Allopathic Dispensaries to Primary Health Centres, Opening of new 2 Tehsils, opening of 3 new blocks, improvement of power in Leh, Rs.112 crores cost Terminal of Leh Airport, delegation of financial power to LAHDC from Rs.50 lacs to Rs.5 crore, delegation of land allotment power to LAHDC, allotting Rs.25 crore to Leh under NABARD scheme and increasement of reserve quota for ST from 5% to 10% were some major achievements which registered in Leh during last few years. Moreover, a Geo Tharmal Power Project at Puga at a cost of Rs.75 crore is coming up within next few years, he added. Jora stressed for maintaining peace and amity in Ladakh which is the prime need for over all development and urged upon the people for their involvement in rural works and other development process. On this occasion, the Member National Schedule Tribe Commission Mr. Tsering Samphel also addressed to the public. He said that coming up of a block at Chushot would change the development scenario of this area and he said that Ladakh has achieved tremendous development in every field because of educated, efficient and energetic leader at the State. The Councilor Choushot Ghulam Abbas Abidi, Councilor Mohd Shafi Lassu and Councilor Gh. Sayeedin also spoke on the occasion. The Deputy Commissioner, Leh Dr. M.K.Bhandari, District Officers, Public of various villages and students of various school also present during the inaugural function. The villagers also submitted a memorandum to the Ministers and projected various demands which included up-gradation of Middle School Chushot Yokma, Drinking water, up-gradation of Primary Health Centre to Sub-District Hospital, inclusion of Chushot village to Tourism Incentive area, Protection bund along river Indus under NABARD, improvement of rural livelihood etc. To mark the opening ceremony of New Block, a cultural programme also presented by the students and the villagers. |
