Why Jamaat has been banned ?
3/4/2019 10:57:18 PM
The Union Government has banned separatist group Jamaat-e-Islami Jammu and Kashmir, a religious and political organisation, for a period of five years for indulging in activities "prejudicial to internal security and public order. Hitherto, Jamaat-e-Islami has already split and over the years it has lost its political vigour. If the Government of India had to ban some separatists it should have begun with banning Hurriyat (M) and hardliners among the Hurriyat Conference. It should have banned JKLF which has played a quite import ant part in the forcing of Kashmiri Pandits to migrate from the valley. All those separatists that come under the banner of Hurriyat Conference (M) or those who follow the ideology of Syed Ali Shah Geelani should have banned. These separatists play a negative role and support all the designs of Pakistan. What is amazing is the outright support Jammat has got from NC vice president, Omar Abdullah, and PDP, President Mehbooba Mufti. Possibly their support is the result of their belief that Jamaat could help them win the Assembly elections.
These separatists whether followers of moderates or those who are hardliners create a law and order problem in Kashmir. They rehister their presence by appealing to people to shutdown and carry out protest rallies. In fact they act as over ground support of militants whom they provide shelter. These separatists issues instructions to people to come in crowds either at the burial grounds where the slain militants have to be buried or at the encounter sites between the militants and the security forces and these crowds usually engage security forces in stone pelting. And once the stone pelting becomes a fashion the security forces retaliate and the protest rallies become bigger headache for the security forces who are forced to open fire.
Once some civilians are killed an d others are injured there is big clamour. Even with mainstream parties condemning the firing. Such issues are taken up to the United Nations and other international for a seeking a solution to the Kashmir problem. Pakistan takes pleasure in interfering into the internal matters of India. The OIC is quick to react and in such reaction the OIC accuses the security forces for violating the basic human rights. It calls investigation into the security forces' excesses. In fact if the Jihad is alive it is because of the deeds of separatists. There is a close equation between these separatists and Pakistan. In fact whatever Pakistan plans is on the guidelines of these separatists. But the Government of India has simply banned the Jamaat-e-Islami on the pretext that it may field its candidates in the valley which could spoil the chances of mainstream parties to regain power.
