| BJP chief addresses party workers | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Apr 20 BJP State President Ashok Khajuria toady addressed a massive Karyakarta Sammelan at Sanji Morh, a border town in Hiranagar tehsil. This Sammelan was organized by Hiranagar Mandal of the BJP and a large number of prominent social figures of the area also embraced BJP. They were garlanded and welcomed into the party fold by BJP chief. Ashok Khajuria in his address, expressed grave concern over the plight of the refugees from West Pakistan who are leading miserable lives for the last sixty years due to step motherly treatment being meted out to them by the successive state governments. He said the border areas of Hirangar, Samba, Akhnoor and R.S.Pura houses maximum population of the refugees from West Pakistan, who opted to come to India during the partition of the country on communal lines in 1947. These unfortunate people, most of whom belong to the Scheduled Caste community, do not have citizenship rights, they can’t avail bank loans, their children can not get admissions in professional and technical institutions and they can’t own immovable property in the state. He said its a human problem and should have been solved on human grounds. Who is responsible for this ? A handful of Kashmiri leaders and their yes men from Jammu region have always opposed any such move which aims at treating them at par with other citizens in the state. He said three generations of these refugees have perished fighting for their rights but no one took their plight seriously. Ashok Khajuria also lambasted the present Congress-led coalition government for its total failure in taking developmental activities in border areas. He said the farmers in these areas are facing lot of hardships but no one cares. These farmers who produce food for the whole population are these days finding it very difficult to survive due to sky rocketing prices of essential items. Ashok Khajuria, on this occasion, declared that the BJP will form next government in the state and our first duty will be to ensure that citizenship rights are granted to them, he added. State Vice-President Th. Ranjit Singh, State Gen. Secretary Shamsher Singh Manhas, Distt. President Prof. Sain Dass, Ex-MLA Prem Lal, Distt. Gen. Secretary Rajinder Bakshi, Kathua Municipal Committee Chairman Rajiv Jasrotia, Rashpal Verma, Vijay Sharma, Bhanu Pratap Gupta, Naveen Choudhary, Kailash Rani were prominent among others who also addressed the gathering. |
