SCC clinches Rohit Memorial Cricket Tourney

Sailing on the superb performance by Vikas, Surinder Cricket Club (SCC) today trounced Unique Cricket Club (UCC) by a big margin of 51 runs to clinch the Rohit Dogra Memorial (Twenty-20) Cricket Tournament at Government MAM College ground, here.
Earlier, batting first after winning the toss, SCC set a target of 139 runs for the loss of five wickets, which, in reply, UCC could not chase and lost all their wickets for 87 runs in 16.3 overs.
Vikas and Sanjay Raina played brilliant innings of 25 runs each, while Rahul Mattoo and Provin contributed 21 and 19 runs respectively. Vikas’s 25 runs came off mere 15 deliveries with the help of two sixes and two boundaries. From UCC, Raman claimed two wickets, followed by Ashu Bajaj and Sanjay who shared apiece each.
Batting second, UCC could not do well and lost wickets on regular intervals thus making an end to their innings at 87 in 16.3 overs. Rocky was top scorer with 28 runs while Sheetal contributed 12 and Anku Chib 11 runs. Vikas was most successful bowler form SCC with three for 18. Mintoo, Rajesh and Raju shared two wickets each. Ajay Raina and Sadiq Hussain were umpires in the final while Sanjay Raina maintained the score.
Vikas was adjudged man of the match for his all-round performance. For outstanding cricket played throughout, Dheeraj Singh was decalred man of the tournament while Rahul Mattoo bagged the best batsman trophy. Mintoo and Akshay Koul shared best bowler and best fielder awards respectively.
Minister for Health and Medical Education, Mangat Ram Sharma was chief guest in the final, who gave away winners and runners-up trophies besides other individual prizes. He lauded the efforts of the Kashyap Sports Club for organizing the event in a professional manner. Recalling his youthful days and love for sports, Minister stressed upon the youth to be focused to their goal till it is achieved.
Prominent among others present were former general secretary of Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA), M L Nehru, C L Changoo, Tariq Ahmed Parry, owner of Tamar Industries (manufacturers of TMR cricket bats), Shamboo Nath Sharma, Mohan Lal, Rohit Malhotra, Ajay Vaid and Ravi Puri.
Earlier, organizing secretary of the tournament, general secretary Kashyap Sports Club, Rajesh Dhar thanked his team of Sanjay Raina, Vinod Koul, Ajay Raina and Rajeev Pandita for tireless efforts in making the tournament a success.
