All India Open Chess tourney at Udhampur next month

Under the aegis of All Jammu and Kashmir Chess Association the Rural Development Society is organizing All India (Invitational) Open Chess Tournament at Nand Palace Udhampur in the first week of May.
This was stated by the president of the Association, Atul Gupta in an interaction with media persons at Udhampur today. He was accompanied by the patron of Udhampur District Chess Association and Chief Education Officer, Vinay Mohan Raina.
The highlight of the event is cash prizes worth over Rs one lakh to those winning the top honours in different groups.
“To encourage the participants from host state Jammu and Kashmir, we have decided to give away three special prizes to Udhampur district as also best women, best junior and best veteran titles. In addition, those desirous to take part in this event of national repute from J&K will be given free entry,” said Atul Gupta.
It will be for the second time that All J&K Chess Association is hosting a national event in the state. Earlier, the championship was organized by the Association at Jammu.
