| 25% increase in J&K assembly seats | | Delimitation commission to be constituted soon | | Srinagar, July 06 : Cabinet today also approved appointment of De-limitation Commission to carve out additional twenty-five assembly segments in the state proportionately adding 25 percent to the existing assembly seats in Jammu division, 25 percent to Kashmir division and 25 percent to the seats reserved for PoK.
Making this announcement, CM today said that Constitution Amendment Bill would be introduced for constitution of delimitation commission during the ensuing Assembly Session. He said the Commission would be given a year to complete the its exercise. He said, he hoped that the next elections would be held with the new Delimitated Assembly Segments.
Chief Minister expressed gratitude to the Cabinet colleagues saying that the decisions taken were in unanimity and to the best interest of the state.
