Minister for Finance, Housing and Urban Development Mr. Tariq Hameed Karra today visited Rajinder Nagar, Bantalab and Roop Nagar areas and took stock of various developmental works being executed by various agencies.
The Minister was accompanied by Vice Chairman JDA Mr. Devender Nargotra, Commissioner Jammu Municipal Corporation Mr. Jeet Lal Gupta besides other officials.
During the tour, various deputations met the Minister and apprised him about the problems being faced by them. The Minister took appraisal of the problems and ordered for their early redressal.
At Rajinder Nagar, Mr. Karra inspected the sites being developed by Jammu Development Authority and the basic amenities made available for the welfare of the settled areas. He was informed that Rs 1.20 crore has been earmarked for double
laning of Rajinder Nagar road connecting it with other areas. He gave on spot orders for developing the whole patch of land around Bantalab canal for making it a beautiful green belt with varied landscape. It was told that the Chief Minister who visited the area earlier had also suggested for developing the whole patch as a green belt to make it
further beautiful.
Mr. Karra directed the officers that while developing the area, keep provision for basic amenities like potable drinking water, electricity besides health and educational facilities available to the inhabitants of the area. He asked the officers to expedite the works being
executed in the area on short term measures.
Regarding the delaying tactics being done by the contractors for executing works, he instructed officers to blacklist the contractors unable to start the works beyond the period of two months. However, he said that unless the areas are regularized with a municipality the basic amenities to those areas would get delayed.
At Roopnagar, the Minister directed for shifting up of the plots allotted near the roads of foothills. He said instead the site should be developed and made a green belt to make it beautiful near the gorges.
