| BJP appreciates Abdullah’s statement, disapproves insistence on Greater Autonomy | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Apr 22 Appreciating the statement of National Conference Patron Dr. Farooq Abdullah that Jammu and Kashmir shall ever remain an integral part of India and there is no question of the Pakistani currency being introduced in the state, BJP State vice president and spokesperson, Prof Hari Om has, however, disapproved his (Farooq’s) insistence on greater autonomy for the state. ‘If Dr. Abdullah and his NC want to establish their secular and democratic credentials then they have no other alternative but to join the BJP crusade against Article 370’. This article, he added, has simply promoted fissiparous tendencies in the state and not allowed the Jammu and Kashmir to integrate emotionally with the rest of the country. Prof Om has further said that the BJP expects from the NC an unambiguous stand on the state as also on that instrument which could empower Jammu both at political and economic level and enable people of Jammu and Ladakh regions to compensate for the losses they have suffered thus far at the hands of the Kashmir centric and valley dominated successive governments in the state. Commenting on the PDP President Mufti Mehbooba’s assertion that her party has changed the status quo on Kashmir, the BJP leader questioned the silence of the Congress over what the PDP leaders have been saying as a solution to the so-called Kashmir problem. He said the continued alliance of the Congress with the controversial PDP has created a suspicion in the minds of the people that the Congress is not opposed to what the PDP has been preaching in and outside the state. The BJP spokesperson has reiterated the party’s stand that it would go to any extent to defeat all the evil designs on Jammu and Kashmir and ensure the state’s full integration with India. |
