| Extension lecture on “ importance of study of religion” | | KU to have centre for comparative religious studies: | | Early Times Reporter Srinagar | Apr 22 KU Hazratbal: Kashmir University will explore the possibilities of establishing a centre for comparative religious studies and pave ways to end the disconnect between Kashmir University and the rest of the world. This was said by Vice chancellor Kashmir University in his presidential remarks at the end of a lecture by noted professor T N Madan on “ Importance of study of religion in contemporary times ” organized by Markazi Noor Sheikul Alam Chair university of Kashmir at Ghandi Bhawan KU campus today Prof Aga Ashraf Ali noted academician was the guest of honour and noted historian Prof Mohammad Ishaq Khan , Chairman Markazi Noor Sheikul alam Chair welcomed the guests University is a place to mould the minds and platform to discuss and debate said VC and added that there is a great need for inculcating values among our students and expand the horizons of their mind . VC KU got a big applause from the audience when he announced the establishment of a new centre for comparative religious studies at KU. Prof T N Madan the Emeritus Professor Of sociology at the institute of economic growth Delhi and chairman of the centre of developing societies Delhi talked extensively on the theme “ The importance of the study of religion in our times “ .In his very thought provoking extension lecture attended by students scholars and academicians Prof T N Madan said that religion to this day continues to play an important role in societies in one or the other form and that is why the need for comparative study of religions becomes very important . .
