| Baldev (Sonu) of HP bags Dera Kesari Dangal title | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Apr 22 The 17th edition of Dera Kesari Dangal went to Baldev (Sonu) of Himachal Pradesh who beat Manjit of Akhara Alamgir in Punjab in an interesting bout for the first mali that lasted for 23 minutes at Dera Baba Banda Bahadur, 25 kilometers from Katra. The winner got a cash prize of Rs 3500 while runners-up Manjit was presented Rs 2500. In the second main bout Jakker of Jammu registered win over Benia of Basantgarh (Ramnagar). Onkar Singh of Kathua defeated Dharma of Alamgir in Punjab for the third main bout. In both these bouts the winners and runners-up were also rewarded with cash prizes by the organizers. In other interesting bouts, Sindhu bt Pritam, Kulbir Singh bt Asha and Mukha of Amritsar bt Mohd Akram of Jammu. Assistant Development Commissioner (Revenue), Bikram Singh Jamwal was chief guest in this dangal who gave away prizes to the winners of first three main bouts. President J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association, Shiv Kumar Sharma presided. Vijay Singh Choudhary, Amar Nath Badyal Tehsildar Katra, Sub-Divisional Police Officer Reasi, and R K Bhardwaj, SHO Reasi were guests of honour. Dangal was organized by Dera Baba Banda Bahadur Dangal Committee in association with J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association. Technical officials, who helped in the smooth conduct of the dangal were Babu Ram Pathania, Vijay Singh, Mohd Fareed, Capt. Lehar Singh (Retd), Master Ram Krishan and Mohan Singh. Among others present were Malik Ram Lubhaya Paruthi, Sant Kumar Juneja, V P Maker, Sanjay Kumar, Mohan Singh, Kaka Ram and Bansi Lal Sharma. |
