| PSU hails VC, DDE decision | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Apr 23 State president of the Panthers Students Union (PSU) Mohinder Paul Singh, hailed Vice Chancellor Jammu University Prof. Amitabh Mattoo and Director Distance Education Jammu for taking a decision to grant admission to all the eligible candidates from Jammu province to M.Ed course run by JU. Addressing media persons, Mohinder Pal Singh said that it was also decided by the university authority to reserve 90% seats for the students who come under the Territory of Jammu University and are permanent resident of Jammu region while the other 10% seals may be allotted to the students of outside state and the students hailing from Kashmir University (KU). He informed that previously the seats in M.Ed. course were allotted on merit basis of both the universities due to which maximum students of Jammu failed to get admission in said course. A memorandum was also submitted to the Director DDE in which PSU demanded that norms for the MA/M.Sc course that 90% seats are reserved for students of Jammu region and the remaining shall be allotted to the students of other universities including the KU. Leaders of the union took a serous note over the matter Director DDE constituted a four member committee to submit a report over the suffering of students of Jammu region due to the flaws in admission process that occurred due to the negligence of some of the officials of DDE. |
