| Shrine Board to augment pilgrim facilities at Cave shrine | | ‘Expects pilgrim traffic to touch 75 lakh mark’ | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Apr 23 To ensure better facilities and to attract rush of pilgrims, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board is meeting on Thursday to review yatra arrangements ahead of summer season. This year the Shrine Board authority are expecting pilgrim traffic to cross 75 lakh mark and is striving hard to extend better facilities for the pilgrims at the bhawan shrine and en-route yatra track. Official sources said here today "members of the Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board are expected to discuss fresh measures that were needed for further augmenting facilities for the pilgrims to the historic shrine. Governor, S.K.Sinha, who heads the Board, is likely to preside over the meeting. Informed sources said that the Board members will review the existing facilities for the pilgrims and suggest ways and means for upgrading basic amenities at Katra. The Board has already introduced various novel measures for securing permits and reservation in guest houses and hotels through internet. Facilities have been introduced for enabling devotees to utilize online donations and online darshan of the shrine. Sources said that in the meeting possibilities would be explored for further increasing room capacity at Katra and at a couple of places on the track so that during peak season pilgrims had not to suffer from weather related problems. A suggestion had been mooted in the recent past that the Triputi system be introduced so that those who can afford to donate liberally could get top priority for offering prayers inside the holy shrine. |
