Aijaz for formational of area specific dev plans

Minister of State for Planning Aijaz Ahmad Khan has asked the officers of Planning Department to formulate plans in consonance with the developmental needs adding that area specific development plans were a must to respond peoples’ requirements. A growing data base and efficiency was a key to the success of prosperous planning, he said.
The Minister was addressing officers of Directorate of Economics and Statistics (DES) on the eve of certificate distribution function here today.
The Minister said that the programme aimed at upgrading the computer knowledge and skills of various members of the planning and statistics organization would help them in discharging their duties more efficiently and effectively. He hoped that the trainers would not take it as replacement of type writing but implement the knowledge gained and attained during the training period practically. He appreciated the endeavour undertaken by the DES in organizing specialized trainings at various levels of the organization.
Aijaz said that upgrading the knowledge improving the human skills, capacity building and re-orientation like steps have been initiated for better prospective planning in the state. He said that efficient planning was imperative for prosperous tomorrow adding that the surveys conducted by Planning Department should leave to accuracy of allocations and utilizations which put to applicability.
Referring to the demand put forth by the department regarding reorganization, Aijaz said that the matter is under active consideration of the government. Referring to other demands, he assured them that these would be looked into.
Earlier, the Minister released three publications which include Budget Analysis 2006-07, Final Fore Cast of Crops 2006-07 and J&K Economy Performance Analysis 2007-08.
Later, Aijaz distributed certificates among 80 members of the organization for successfully completing the computer training programme.
Director, Economics and Statistics Mr. G.A. Quershi while highlighting the usefulness of the computer literacy in this modern era apprised the participants about the computer training programme. Some trainers also spoke on the occasion and threw light on the training programme.
