| SICOP achieves record turn over of 440 cr last fiscal | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Apr 23 The SICOP has achieved a record turnover of Rs.440 crore during the 2007-08 which has provided the Corporation with a cash surplus of Rs.244 lakh during the said period. The company is all set to achieve Rs.500 crore turn over during the current fiscal. This was revealed at the 78th meeting of the Board of Directors of SICOP held here today under the chairmanship of Minister for Industries and Commerce Nawang Rigzin Jora. In order to board base the marketing activity, the Board decided to recommend the government for considering inclusion of more range of items manufactured by the local small scale industry in the "Reserved Category" for exclusive purchase from SSI sector through SICOP which was the designated marketing agency for such products. For the purpose a Sub Committee was constituted to examine the issue. The Board also discussed development of industrial infrastructure by having more new industrial estates to cater to the demand of prospective entrepreneurs. The Board further observed that some allottes of industrial estates have not put the land to bonafide industrial use and decided that such units should be notified to immediately commence industrial activities within the allotted premises failing which the unutilized land should be retrieved and allotted to prospective entrepreneurs. With a view to create more market avenues to the products manufactured within the state, it was decided in the meeting that Buyer-Seller Meets should be organized and SICOP should also explore to provide a platform to local SSI units for marketing their end products outside the State. Dua gave a detailed presentation of overall activities of the Corporation Those present in the meeting included Minister of State for Industries and Commerce Dr. Romesh Chander Sharma, Principal Secretary Planning and Development M. I. Khanday, Commissioner Secretary Finance B. B. Vyas, Secretary Industries and Commerce Dr. Pawan Kotwal, Directors Industries and Commerce Jammu/Kashmir, Director MSME Government of India, Presidents of Chamber of Commerce Jammu/Kashmir and Presidents of Industrial Association Kashmir/Jammu. |
