| Rs. 42.66 cr Annual plan for Poonch approved | | Charak stresses for judicial use of funds | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Apr 23 The annual plan of Rs 42.66 crore with Rs 19 crore of loan assistance and Rs 1.75 crore as ACA was approved for the year 2008-09 for Poonch district in the District Development Board meeting held at Poonch today. The meeting approved Rs 3.42 crore for agriculture and allied sectors, Rs 17.34 lakh under industrial, Rs 2.79 crore under rural development scheme, Rs 7.10 crore under engineering, Rs 50 lakh for power and Rs 28.71crore for social and general services. The meeting was chaired by Minister for Higher Education Gulchain Singh Charak and attended by the Vice Chairman, Board for Development of Pahari Speaking People Shabir Ahmad Khan, M.P Ch. Mohammad Aslam, M.P Tirlok Singh Bajwa, Legislators Mushtaq Ahmad Bukhari, Javed Ahmad Rana, Jahangir Mir, Farida Mir, Lal Mohammad Sabir, Bashir Ahmad Naaz, Murtaza Ahmad Khan, Mohammad Rashid Qureshi, Board Members, Heads of the departments apart from district officers. Scheme wise review was taken in the meeting during which various suggestions came up for implementation of developmental scheme. Addressing the meeting, Chairman of the Board Gulchain Singh Charak said that state government was determined to provide transparent and accountable administration to the people adding that government was concentrating on overall development of far-flung districts which include Poonch and Rajouri. He said efforts were being made for creation of useful assets and infrastructure for facilitating people. Stressing on judicious use of funds, Charak directed the officers to make use of available funds properly so that works were completed with the allocations. Presenting the resume of physical and financial achievements for the last financial year, the District Development Commissioner Poonch Mr. B. D. Sharma said that an allocation of 52.44 crore was approved by the District Development Board Poonch, out of which up to the end of year, 45.73 crore were available and 45.12 crore were spent on approved plan scheme which comes as 98 percent of the available amount. Against this, expenditure during 2007-08, 2900 hectare area was covered under Horticulture schemes by planting 25000 fruits bearing plants. Under Animal Husbandry sector 2.23 lakh designs and Rs 4.00 lakh vaccination was done during the year. The wool production was 4.91 lakh kgs while the mutton production was 19.99 lakhs kgs during the year. Afforestation has been done on 280 hectare degraded forest area by planting 2.50 lakhs plants. 3.70 lakh patients were treated under health sector. Enrollment in the schools was 1.22 lakhs. 36300 G&B students and 17,000 Pahari students were provided scholarships.198 transformers were replaced and 331 transformers were replaced. Additional irrigation potential on 36 hectares of area was created. Under R&B sector 8.70 km road were blacktopped, 1.95 km shingled, 4.05 km metalled and 12.70 km fair weather roads were constructed while potable drinking water was provided to 2900 souls. |
