Some activists of West Pakistani Refugees Association today brought a novel way to attract more audience in its rally organised in Jammu city. Police said that it arrested two activists of the Association for allegedly `creating sensation' about a rally organised by the Association in Green Belt Park area of Gandhi Nagar, today. The activists, police sources told News Agency of Kashmir, were spreading rumours in Kanachak area by making false announcements regarding address of chief minister Ghulam Nabi Azad at a rally organised by West Pakistani Refugees.
The activist, sources said, were making announcements from loudspeakers on a hired matador in the outskirts in Kanachak area, which is densely populated by Pak refugees.
"There was no programme of the chief minister in Gandhi Nagar area and it made us suspicious", sources said adding that the suspects were immediately rounded up and put to questioning.
During the interrogation of the accused, identified as Ram Lal s/o Billu Ram r/o Halqa Kanachak and (2) Rashpaul Chand s/o Kheru Ram r/o Chak Jaffra Kanachak, said that they were creating rumours only to attract more audience in the rally organised by the association.
Sources said that it has registered a case under FIR No 57/2008 and some more arrests are likely. "We suspect that senior functionaries of the Association were very much hand in glove with the accused for misleading the general masses".
