| Planned infrastructure must for economic growth: Vakil | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Apr 23 Minister for Social Welfare Mr. Abdul Gani Vakil on Wednesday said that government has focused attention on planned development of infrastructure with an objective to make J&K a developed and prosperous state. He said construction of infrastructure was imperative for giving fillip to industry and tourism sectors the potential of which needs to be fully tapped for economic growth of the state. Addressing a public meeting at Murallian Bangla in R. S. Pura, the Minister said strong foundation for economic independence of the state was being laid with constant liberal funding from centre. He said peace and normalcy was fast returning in the state following conduct of two round table conferences on the directions of Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh. He said implementation of recommendations worked out by these Working Groups subsequently was being pursed by Chief Minister Mr. Ghulam Nabi Azad seriously for larger benefit of state and its people. Vakil distributed cheques amounting to Rs.12.73 lakh among 732 beneficiaries under social security schemes. He also handed over 30 sewing machines to widows of the area on the occasion. MLA R. S. Pura Mrs. Suman Lata Bhagat, in her speech dwelt in detail on the measures taken to tread the path of progress and prosperity. She praised the Minister for exempting SC and ST candidates from qualification bar in the engagement of anganwari workers and helpers. |
