| Rally organized against use of drugs | | Vivekanand Kendra celebrates World Earth Day | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Apr 23 Vivekanand Kendra Kanya Kumari Branch Jammu organized a function in Women/Children Park at Jammu. The programme started with lighting of Traditional Lamp. A large number of people particularly intellectuals drawn from different fields both retired and serving participated in the function. Serious discussion on problems facing the globe and life on the earth were held. As per press release the speakers stressed upon the urgent need to intimate steps for tackling the above problems in the interest of making this Earth a better place for the future generation. G.S. Sanhotra Vibhag Pramukh of the Kendra dwelt on the importance of celebration of World Earth Day. Father Joseph of Garison Church Gandhi Nagar laid stress to plant at least one tree in a year and protect it, proper disposal of kitchen waste and freedom from consumerism. Ramesh Hangler, President Himalayan Pariwar stressed upon providing green cover in the urban as well as rural areas to minimize the green house effect. In his address Dinesh Gupta, Secretary Red Cross Society, Jammu demanded proper check on the Govt. funds meant for pollution control and Environment improvement in particular reference to Social Forestry and Pollution Control Board.
