| Kazakhistan Ambassador calls on CM | | 2 Ks have close cultural affinity: Azad | | SRINAGAR, AUGUST 29 – Ambassador of Kazakhistan in India Mr. Keirat Umarov called on Chief Minister Mr. Ghulam Nabi Azad here this morning. Chief Minister while interacting with Mr. Umarov said that cultural relationship between Kashmir and Kazakhistan has its rich historical background. He said that on Kazakhistan the influence of Kashmir’s way of living is evident in almost every field of life. Mr. Azad said that Kashmir during the past was vital link for trade with its rich network of routes crisscrossing the valley at many points across parts of the Central Asia. He said the great silk route was the centre of trade and commerce even before the rest of the world had learnt anything about international economy. He said priests, traders and merchants traveled through these routes for strengthening the relationship between the people. He also recalled his visits to Central Asia and the love and effection he received from its people. Chief Minister said that there is a great scope for tourists from Kazakhistan keeping in view shrines and pilgrimage centres which are mutually respected by the people of Kashmir and the people of Kazakhistan. He said that there was exchange of priests, artists, intellectuals and writers between Kazakhistan and Kashmir in the past also. Mr. Azad said that tourists from Kazakhistan will find attraction not only in beauty of Jammu and Kashmir but in mutual cultural affinity and heritage aspects which still exists in both places. Chief Minister said that though Kashmir is an ideal tourist destination round the year but it has its own charm in the months of March-April when almonds bloom, is captivating and dancing of various flowers on the tune of wind giving a look of Eden mesmerizes the viewers . Mr. Azad also dwelt on various development initiatives taken to make Jammu and Kashmir a highly developed and prosperous state. The Kazakhistan Ambassador lauded Mr. Azad’s vast experience, vision and initiatives. |
