| Over 74,000 people visited | | Tulip Garden closed for public from April 26 | | Early Times Reporter Srinagar | Apr 25 The department of Floriculture Kashmir is aiming for further beautification and expansion of the recently developed IGM Tulip Garden, Srinagar to make it all season garden. The garden has not only attracted the people of the state but has also been helpful in advancing the arrival of national and international tourists in the state by one month. Major effort of the department is to boost flori-tourism and help in reviving the truism sector, besides laying thrust on commercial floriculture and establishment of Tulip Garden is one of the laying thrust on commercial floriculture of Tulip Garden is one of the steps in this direction. This was stated by Director Floriculture, Dr. G.S. Naqash here today. He said 74421 people have visited the tulip garden and revenue of Rs. 27. 30 lakh has been earned by the department. Naqash said the tulip season is coming to an end and therefore, department is gearing up its men and machinery to develop the garden for transplantation of other seasonal flowers. However, this activity will take some time and as such the garden will remain closed for general public from Saturday, April 26, 2008. |
