Secretary Health and Medical Education K B Jandial has said that Indira Gandhi government dental College, Amphalla will soon get recognition from the Dental Council of India (DCI).
Speaking in a Hello DD programme, K B Jandial while giving respite to dental College Students assured that the committee of Dental Council of India will given recognition to the college claiming that career prospects of students are safe.
He informed that Dental Council of India (DCI) terming the first three batches as ‘irregular’ and has been considering batch of 2007 as the first batch and is not concerned with previous three batches due to which the future of the students are at stake.
He said that concerning high level authority has taken this matter with the DCI and central government who assured to take positive measures keeping in mind the future of the Students of college.
It is to mention that regularization of admission of students of the previous three batches in the J&K government-run Indira Gandhi Dental College here remains uncertain as the Centre has granted permission to the college to make admissions only for the current session.
Substantiating more on that, Jandial said that the case for regularization of admission of students of the previous three batches already be taken up separately with the DCI and hoped that we get recognition at the earliest this year.
Replying over the question regarding lack of faculty in dental College, health secretary said that we have referred some posts to the SSRB to remove bottleneck of lack of faculty and those who are working presently will be promoted.
Responding to callers from Doda and Kishtwar districts, Jandial has said that government is committed to provide better health care facilities to the people at village level across
the state.
he informed the viewers one PHC and 10 health centres would be set in each constituency of the erstwhile Doda district. He said that recently the Chief Minister Mr. Ghulam Nabi Azad has inaugurated the OPD block of the 200-beded upcoming new district hospital being constructed at a cost of Rs. 32 crore. The OPD block costing Rs. 4 crore had been completed in two years. Surgical, medical, ortho, ENT, ophthalmology, physiotherapy, gynae, and obsterics facilities have been made available in the block. The block has also examination rooms and lab for conducting various teats. Orders for CT Scan for the hospital have already been placed. Regarding call from Kishtwar district, he said that recently an OPD block was also inaugurated of the upcoming district hospital completed at a cost of Rs. 1.5 crore besides 100-beded hospital building will be completed by March 2009 at a cost of Rs. 16 crore. He said that the government has also set up 18 district health societies including in new districts of Reasi, Samba,
Kulgam and Ganderwal. He informed that the government has engaged 131 MBBS, 130 AYUSH doctors and 747 paramedical on contractual basis to strengthen health institutions. He said that 24 CHCs are being upgraded to FRUs and 70 upgraded to IPHS.
Secretary H&ME informed that the government has released Rs. 78 crore out of 80 crore for construction and upgradation DHs and SDHs.
He said that Neonatal ICUs are being set up in DHs and 7 DHs taken up this year besides 6 private hospitals brought under PPP mode under Maternal Health Programme. He said that the government has constituted 6745 village health and sanitation committees to strengthen the medicare facilities in rural areas besides 45023 village health and
nutrition days organized in Anganwadi Centres in 2007-08. Regarding institutional deliveries, he said that 91234 were made in 2005-06 and 150466 in 2007-08. Jammu and Kashmir Government Medical Colleges taken up for upgradation to AIIMS level under PMSSY, GMC Jammu fist among 13 such medical colleges in the country to launch construction sate equity of Rs. 20 crore for each GMC utilized under the scheme. He said
that work on 6 out of 8 sanctioned Trauma Centres taken p besides 13 advanced mobile medical units at block level and 6 MMUs being established.
Jandial said that AMT schools of Jammu and Srinagar are being upgraded to Nursing Colleges besides a tele helpline was launched to register grievances for immediate redressal.
Regarding construction of Super Specialty hospital at Reshamgarh colony, he informed that the government has sanctioned Rs. 120 crore for construction of upcoming hospital. He said that it is a significant development project in the health sector aimed at
upgrading the existing GMC Jammu hospital to the level of AIIMS, New Delhi. Six super specialties of neurology, neurosurgery, cardiology, cardiothoracic and vascular surgery, urology and renal transplant, nephrology and dialysis will be housed in the new complex, work on which was started in February this year. The upcoming building will
also have a 250-bed hospital.
