| MOU signed for implementing GJPAI | | ‘Provides insurance cover of Rs.2.50 lakh; effective from April 18’ | | Early Times Reporter

Memorandum of Understanding was signed between Nodal Officer, Finance Department and CEO, Bajaj Allianz General Insurance Co. Ltd. Swaraj Krishan in presence of Minister for Finance Tariq Hamid Karra for the implementation of Group Janta Personal Accidental Insurance (GJPAI) Policy for the year 2008-09 here today.
The scheme, which has been already approved by the cabinet, would cover the employees of all categories working in the state government departments, PSUs, autonomous bodies and shall also include such of the daily rated workers who have been engaged in the above mentioned departments up to January 31, 1994.
Under the scheme, each employee would be provided an insurance cover of Rs. 2.50 lakh in case of accidental death. Premium of Rs. 81 for the period under cover of insurance i.e. from midnight April 18 2008 to midnight of April 18,2009 is payable by each employee and as such has to be deducted from the salary for the month of May 2008.
The intimation of accidental death of an employee or disability caused due to an accident (permanent or partial) should be immediately sent to the Nodal Officer directly by the DDO concerned.
Thereafter, the DDO shall submit the following supportive documents facilitating the settlement of the insurance claim by the insurance company which include FIR if lodged/ police final report, Death certificate, Post-mortem report if conducted, disability certificate in case of disability, treasury voucher No. And date of premium/deduction certificate duly authenticated by the DDO concerned. The children's education grant and carriage charges of deceased body would also be covered by the scheme. |
