| Commercial taxes imposes Rs.87, 000 penalty on tax evaders | | | Early Times Reporter

Continuing its drive against the tax evaders and defaulters, a team of Vigilance and Inspections of the Commercial Taxes under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner Mohan Lal Sharma imposed a penalty of Rs.86674 under the J&K Vat Tax 2005 on the defaulters for clandestine import of precious stones and silver ornaments.
The inspection team also seized goods like confectionery, footwear, manyari from inter-state video coach buses and recovered penalty of Rs.18025 on the spot from the defaulters for non clearance of these goods at the check post Lakhanpur thus evading tax applicable under the Jammu and Kashmir VAT Act. |
