| LeT commander surrenders | | | Early Times Reproter Jammu | April 26 As section commander of Lashkar-e-Toiba surrendered before troops of 59 Rashtriya Riffles and Jammu and Kashmir Police, here last night. Sources informed that after developing contacts through the relatives of the militant who intend to surrender before army laid his arms and join main stream. The surrender of the LeT militant was the outcome of intensive efforts of local police and army by motivating the militants through their parents, relatives and maintaining pressure on them to shun the path of violence and join the national stream to the benefits of govt surrender policy. The militant was active from the last several years and was acting as a section commander of Lashker-e-Toiba in Gulab Garh area. "With the surrender of the militant, some more arrests and recoveries are likely to be made on his disclosure" SSP Reasi said. "As a part of surgical and professional operations based on hard intelligence, army focuses on motivating the local boys to surrender while encouraging them to join the main stream" defence spokesman Lt Col SD Goswami told News Agency of Kashmir, adding that these youths are later rehabilated by the government. Identifies as Shamas Din code Shamsher alias Hamja son of Nazir Ahmed of Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT), resident of Khour, Mahore (Dandyala Dewel) area of Reasi laid arms at a surrender ceremony held here, last evening. The surrendered militant has handed over one AK 47 Rifle, 1 binocular and ammunitions. Meanwhile, troops of 48 Rashtriya Rifles (GARHWAL RIFLES) on specific information recovered a cache in general area Rajouri, today. The recovered cache comprises of 32 Detonators, one Chinese Pistol, six Hand grenades, assorted ammunitions and miscellaneous stores. |
