| Chib, Micky seek better package for PoK migrants | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Apr 26 MLC R S Chib and deputy chairman of legislatiove council Arivinder Singh (Micky), held a meeting with the Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh today and welcomed the package announced by him in respect of Kashmiri migrants and enhancement of pension for widows. However, both the Congress leaders expressed their unhappiness in respect of the package announced by Prime Minister for the displaced persons, those who migrated from PoK in 1947, which include district Poonch, Muzaffarabad and Mirpur. As per a press release, the Congress leaders explained to the Prime Minster, that meager sum of Rs 50 crore earmarked for the welfare of refuges of 1947 is adding salt to their injuries. They urged upon the Prime Minister that the refugees of 1947 have been suffering for last more than sixty years and hence a liberal financial package should have been worked out accordingly. They also demanded that the children of refugees of 1947 should be given reservation in the professional institutions and central govt services. Micky and Chib appreciated the efforts of Ghulam Nabi Azad, Chief Minster for taking up the problems of 1947, 1965, 1971 and refugees form West Pakistan with the union Govt. Both these leaders expressed their confidence in the central Govt headed by Manmohan Singh and hoped that Union Govt shall solve the problems of the displaced persons of 1947, who migrated from PoK. They also felt confidant that the problems of 1965 and 1971 migrants will be mitigated by the state govt. The Prime Minister assured the congress leaders, that Central Govt, will look into their grievances sympathetically and will also give serious thought to their problems. |
