| Shadidi Diwas celebrated by Army at Mendhar | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Apr 28 ‘Shahidi Diwas’ function was organized by Army’s Bhimber Gali Brigade at Mendhar, today in conjunction with the civil administration. The day is celebrated every year to remember the supreme sacrifice made by six gallant sons of the soil while assisting the Army in front line during the 1965 Indo-Pak conflict. These martyrs include Syed Mohd, Gullam Hussain Gujjar, Pir Baksh, Mohd Sadiq and Khan Mohd Gujjar of Mendhar Tehsil. In solemn ceremony organized Mendhar Battalion, wreath were laid followed by patriotic songs and a skit by school children. While addressing the large gathering which included senior Army Officers, prominent officials of district administration, students and citizens of the town, Officiating Commander Bhimber Gali Brigade saluted the indomitable courage of these martyrs and exhorted the public to pursue the gallant tradition left behind by these great patriots. The encouraging response and willing participation by the local population, reflected their support and oneness for a national cause. The ceremony ended with presentation of gifts to the kins of the martyrs. |
