| PM visit was pre-election gimmick: Rehman | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Apr 27 Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s visit to J&K and announcements made by him are aimed at boosting the sagging moral of the Congress on the eve of forthcoming general elections in the state on government’s money said Sheikh Abdul Rehman, former members parliament and president Samajwadi Party here today. Reacting over the Manmohan’s visit and inauguration of second bridge over river Chenab at Akhnoor and Dul Hasti Power project at Kishtwar besides announcement of various packages, he termed these as undemocratic and nearly exploitation of the people with an eye over the forthcoming elections, which are not far off. “The announcement of packages in favour of 1947 Pak refugees, 1947, 1965 and 1971 PoK displaced persons are much less of their expectations and delayed ones as these problems being old, should have beer addressed to much earlier, but now when the state elections are just a matter of few months time, such announcement, therefore tantamount to lure, exploit and defraud the electorate and in no case be justified,” Rehman said. He said many important issues confronted by the people of the state, stand neglected which include constitution of three regional councils, constitution of Chenab Valley, Pir Panchal hilly areas as autonomous hill development councils but it is a matter of profound concern that PM, during the course of his visit adopted criminal silence in this regard. |
