Kashmiri Pandit Sangrash Samiti (KPSS) has accused the successive Central Governments of betraying those Kashmiri Pandits who chose to live in the Valley along with the Muslim majority community even after the mass migration of community in 1989-90 due to arms insurgency.
While welcoming the announcement made by the Prime Minister of India and Union Home Minister granting Rs. 1600 crore package to facilitate return of Kashmiri Pandit migrants to their ancestral places, the Samiti has regretted that the Valley based Kashmiri Pandits feel betrayed by the successive Central Governments who ignored the suffering of Valley based Kashmiri Pandits who kept a ray of hope alive in the peak of militancy in the State.
It is an agony that the national political parties have always ignored sacrifices made by them while defending the sovereignty of the country and has given nothing except the lip service, the Samati said.
KPSS has asks the Central Government, Parliamentarians of both the Houses and leaders of all national political parties to give guarantee to the Kashmiri Pandit community as a whole that 1990 episode, which forced the community to leave their own motherland, will not happen or will not be repeated again and again. Also counter guarantee should be given by the majority community leaders of the Valley that 1990 episode / slogans / killings will not be repeated, if the migrant Kashmiri Pandit community returns back to the Valley.
KPSS will take strong steps if the Central Government will not consider our long pending genuine demands and announce rehabilitation / employment package for the Kashmiri Pandits living in the Valley.
