| PK delegation call on Governor, present memo | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Apr 28 A delegation of Panun Kashmir led by its Convenor Dr Agnishekhar today called on the Governor Lt. Gen (Retd) S K Sinha and apprised him about the community’s concern and point of view regarding the establishment of Sharda Peeth University. The delegation also presented a memorandum to the Governor highly appreciating the role played by the Governor towards espousal of nationalist assertion with zeal and fervour. The memorandum also lauded the particular interest of the governor in the re-establishment of the ancient Shaarda Peeth University. ‘Sharda Peeth University concept is the first serious attempt to give a civilizational response to the forces inimical to Indian ethos and to restore an atmosphere of sanity, civility and pristine Indian glory in Kashmir’ the memorandum added. Saying that the Sharda Peeth represents the pinnacle of Kashmiri Pandit glory since ancient times, the Memorandum added that it was at Sharda Peeth that the foundations of a society based knowledge and learning was nurtured. Describing the concept of Sharda Peeth University in itself a move in the right direction, however, the Pannun Kashmir said ‘we felt duty bound to apprise you of our apprehensions and concerned. The delegation impressed that the establishment of such a concept University is highly privileged assignment and as such it needs to be handled by the people whom the community trusts and who have a strong civilizational commitment to the project. The delegation suggested establishment of this prestigious University in Anantnag district which is cradle to the prominent religio-cultural centres of Kashmiri Pandits. The delegation comprised Sanjay Moza, Daya Krishen Koul, Virender Raina, Om Jee, Khema Koul and P Kaul. |
