| 37.29 cr annual plan for Reasi approved | | CM highlights need for timely completion of development projects | | Early Times Reporter Reasi | Apr 28 Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad has highlighted the need for time- bound completion of infrastructure development projects and speedier implementation of welfare schemes to ensure all round and rapid progress of Jammu & Kashmir. Addressing Reasi District Development Board meeting here today, the Chief Minister said that plan funds in full have been allocated at the very start of the financial year and officials should leave no stone unturned in implementing the schemes within set timeline. He in fact called for completion of projects ahead of time without compromising on quality. The current year's annual plan for Reasi district was approved at Rs. 37.29 crore. Out of the total outlay, over Rs.34.67 crore is capital component and Rs. 2.62 crore revenue component. Last year, Rs. 27.73 crore was spent under the district plan. The Chief Minister announced Rs.11 crore for fast track development works in the district. He said under this dispensation, replacement of electric poles, blacktopping of internal roads and improvement of lanes and drains would be undertaken in the district. He emphasized that the amount be utilized within shortest possible time to ensure benefits reached the people at the earliest. Minister for Industries and Commerce and Chairman of the Board, Nawang Rigzin Jora, Minister for R&B, Jugal Kishore Sharma, Minister of State for Revenue and Finance, Aijaz Ahmad Khan, MLA, Abdul Gani Malik, President, Municipal Committee, Reasi, Yash Paul Verma and President, Municipal Committee, Katra, Mulkh Raj Purohit, heads of departments and district officers participated in the meeting. Azad also announced up-gradation of one high school to higher secondary level, two middle schools as high schools and one girls’ middle school as high school in each constituency of the district, besides opening up of five health sub-centres each in these constituencies to enhance reach of education and health care facilities. While reviewing action taken on the decisions of the last board meeting, Azad impressed upon the concerned authorities for conducting joint inspections speedily, wherever forest clearance is required, for execution of road and other infrastructure development projects. On tourism front, Azad asserted that there is need for giving impetus to create infrastructure on priority at places having high tourist potential. He said this would help in attracting more and more tourists to such spots besides activating economy of the area. Nawang Rigzin Jora exhorted upon the officers to redouble their efforts in completion of development schemes already taken in hand. Jugal Kishore Sharma and Minister of State for Revenue and Finance, Aijaz Ahmed Khan dwelt on the historic initiatives taken by the Chief Minister for fast track development, especially in the newly created districts, with focus on road connectivity, healthcare and educational facilities as well as raising other infrastructure both in urban and rural areas. They also projected development oriented demands of their respective constituencies. MLA, Abdul Gani Malik also highlighted demands of his constituency. Earlier, in his welcome address, District Development Commissioner, Reasi, Sanjeev Verma said that under agriculture sector, plant protection measures would be taken on 1750 hectares, 2770 quintals of high yielding variety seeds would be distributed among farmers and 1000 dhingri blocks, 80 beehives and 60 demonstration plants would be established in the district during the current fiscal. Under horticulture sector, new orchards over 100 hectares would be set up. Meanwhile, the mini-secretariat complex is coming up in the district at a cost of Rs. 34.81 crore. The complex would comprise DC office complex, conference hall and district offices on which work is going apace. Under NREGA, 8 lakh mandays would be generated for which 735 works have been identified for execution. Under R&B sector, 5 new roads under NABARD and 3 on-going roads will be completed while 11.65 km of roads will be blacktopped, 26.95 km metalled, 22.25 shingled and 17.15 km made fair weather. A conference hall at Dharmari at a cost of Rs. 52 lakh and Gujjar and Bakarwal hostel at Talwara, costing Rs. 45 lakh, are being constructed. The hostel could be functional by May this year. A 50 MVA, 132/33 KV grid station at a cost of Rs.17.74 crore under Prime Minister's package is under construction at Katra. So far, Rs.3.04 crore has been spent on land acquisition and its preliminary work. In tourism sector, two tourist reception centres are being constructed at Reasi and Dera Baba at a cost of Rs. 2.95 crore and Rs. 3.37 crore, respectively. A project amounting to Rs. 2.50 crore has been sanctioned for development of Nau Pindian on Katra-Shiv Khori circuit. In addition, work on development of facilities at Shiv Khori under central package amounting to Rs. 4.11 crore is going apace. Likewise, 5 model villages are being developed in the district involving Rs. 6 crore and so far Rs. 5.28 crore has been spent on these. |
