| Working group on economic development meets | | Rangarajan identifies power, road connectivity significant sectors for E-growth | | Srinagar, August 29, – The Chairman Working Group on Balanced Economic Development Dr. C. Rangarajan has said that power and road connectivity sectors are critical areas significant for bringing about change in economic scenario in the state and opening new vistas for development. The working Group to deliberate upon balanced economic development, employment generation and balanced regional and sub-regional development within the state met here today under the chairmanship of Dr. C. Rangarajan. Talking to media persons just before the meeting commenced Dr. Rangarajan said that group would evolve a strategy for speedy development of the state, keeping in view balanced regional development and employment generation. The group would also find out ways and means to accelerate the economic growth alongwith physical and social infrastructure development. He said the special features of the group is that it is represented by all the political parties of the state, as such, ‘we would be able to get the view points of various political parties about equitable development’. He said this would also help to evolve a common political approach and strategy for the economic growth and development of the state in a balanced manner. He said in his view two aspects of development are of importance in Jammu and Kashmir state which are reconstruction of damaged public infrastructure because of varieties of reasons caused by militancy and creation of physical and social infrastructure for proper growth and development. The meeting was attended by Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Muzaffar Hussain Baig, Minister of Power Mr. Nawang Rigzin Jora, Member Parliament Mr. Omar Abdullah, legislators Mr. Balwant Singh Mankotia, Thakur Puran Singh, Mr. Sharief Niaz, Dr. Nirmal Singh, Mr. Nizam-ud-Din Khatana, Financial Commissioner coordination Mr. Ajit Kumar and Commissioner/Secretary, General Administration Department Mr. Khursheed Ahmad Ganai and experts from Centre. |
