| Adil wins district Srinagar Caroom championship | | | Early Times Reporter Srinagar | Apr 28 Adil Khandey clinched the senior boys’ title in the Srinagar District Carrom Championship organized by J&K Carrom Association at Polo Ground, here. In the final played today, Adil defeated Amir Mian. The senior girls’ trophy went to Shabnam Ahad, who beat Samara Jan in the final. Mukhtar Ahmad bagged the junior boys’ title beating Aquib Khan of Modern Muslim School in the title clash. The junior girls’ trophy was clinched by Sahraish, who trounced Rehina Rajad. In sub-junior boys final, Shabir emerged the winner beating Sajjad Hussain in the final. Salabah beat Furkhan in the final to bag the sub-junior girls’ trophy. In under-10 category, Aqsa Majid defeated Absaar in the final. Member J&K State Sports Council and Municipal Councilor, Sabiya Qadri was chief guest in the finals, who gave away winners and runners-up trophies. Speaking to the players, Sabiya assured of all possible help to the game of Caroom. Earlier, chief coordinator of the championship, G S Bakshi in his address asked the government for creating playing facilities for the small indoor games by way of providing infrastructure and required equipments. He said that just paying attention on games like cricket and football will not serve the purpose of involving the youth in constructive activities. Prominent among those present included Mushtaq Ahmed, Autar Singh, Gurdial Singh, Riyas Ahmed Khan, Pardeep Singh and Darljit Singh. |
