Jammu and Kashmir police on Monday arrested 111 persons including 13 officials of the revenue department on the charges of fraudulently transferring 50 hectares of state land worth crores of rupees to beneficiaries in the early eighties.
While eight revenue officials were arrested for allegedly transferring 33 hectares of state land in the posh Rawalpora, Humhama and Peer Bagh areas of the city to beneficiaries five other officials of the same department were arrested for allegedly transferring 17 hectares of state land at Nadergund and Humhama, a police spokesman said.

These officials in connivance with the beneficiaries also allegedly destroyed a major portion of the records in their bid to escape from the clutches of law, he said.
However, police arrested the defaulters, seized the records and identified the land which was mostly submerged under water at Waliabad-Peerbagh in the city.
