Two couples arrested with large quantity of intoxicants

RAJOURI, Apr 14: In a major success under its drive to check smuggling of narcotic substances in Rajouri, Jammu and Kashmir police in Rajouri district arrested two couples and recovered a huge consignment of intoxicant capsules and syrups from their possession.
A team of police headed by SHO Rajouri Ajaz Haider assisted by a team of Police Component (SOG) under the overall supervision of DySP PC (Operation) Pranav Mahajan laid a surprise naka at Muradpur near Rajouri town for checking of vehicles moving on Jammu Rajouri Poonch highway.
During checking, a Tavera Vehicle JK11 9887 loaded with clothings (ladies suits and bed sheets) was intercepted and cops put it to frisking. However, the person travelling in the vehicle tried to resist the frisking giving excuse of damage to clothings but their resistance created suspicion and the entire vehicle was put to thorough frisking.
Cops on duty managed to recover a huge consignment of banned drugs in the vehicle and kept hidden in clothing material. Two couples travelling in the vehicle were taken into custody from the spot and vehicle was also seized alongwith the narcotics consignment.
The four persons who have been arrested include Mohammad Hafiz son of Mohammad Yousuf Wani and his wife Saima Akhter, resident of Gulabpura Chassana Reasi, at present near Aaiti Rajouri and Shabir Hussain son of Mohammad Ismail and his wife namely Parvez Akhtar resident of Muradpur Rajouri. 6480 intoxicant capsules (TRAMADOL HYDROCHLORIDE DICYCLOMINE) and 40 bottles of syrup (RUSSCOF CHLORPHENIRAMINE CODEINE PHOSPHATE SYRUP) have been recovered from their possession. A case FIR no 191/2019 under sections 8/21/22/29/60 NDPS Act has been registered in police station Rajouri and investigations taken up.
