| Sports Day Celebrated at MIET | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Apr 29 The department of Master of Computer Application (MCA) of Model Institute of Engineering & Technology (MIET), Kot Bhalwal, Jammu organized two days Extramural activities and Sports Day. It was inaugurated by the Chief Guest, Prof S. K .Sharma, Principal MIET. Prof Indu Gandotra, head of the department of MCA welcomed the guests and august gathering on this occasion. In her welcome speech, she emphasized the importance of Co-curricular activities for students. Heads and faculty members of various departments were also present during this celebartion. In addition to excelling in the academics, MIET also believes in overall development of the students in accordance with the vision laid down by the management headed by Dr Arun K. Gupta, Director MIET. In a message, he wished all the students and the faculty members the very best in their extramural activities and have success in organising this function. Students of MCA department participated in different sports items such as Judo, Taekwando, Chess, Table Tennis, Carom & Cricket. They also availed the opportunity of displaying their talent in different variety programmes. The talent show involved dancing, singing, skit, rangoli, collage making and poetry writing. Vikrant Joshi (who had earlier participated at National level) bagged the appreciation prize in Taekwando, while Neha Mahajan (a State level player) & Prachi bagged the appreciation prize in Judo. 2nd Semester students won the cricket match and Mukesh Verma was declared as the Man of the Match. Adarsh and Ujjwal won first prize in Carom, Adarsh won first prize in Chess, Vikrant Joshi won first prize in Table Tennis. Monika Saini was judged best in rangoli & collage making. Himshika won solo dance competition, Anjali verma won solo song competition, group dance competition was won by Prachi Gupta and Vandana, Group song competition was won by Monika Parihar ,Mariyam & Rupali.“Guludu da behya”(in Dogri) was considered as the best skit enacted by 2nd semester students. Rupali sharma presented a poetry in dogri and was appreciated by the audience. The Chief Guest appreciated the students for showing their versatility both in sports and cultural items. He also congratulated the department for organizing the events in a brilliant way. Ms Arti Kotru , Lecturer MCA, compared the proceedings and presented the Vote of Thanks. |
