Social Activist moves ECI against Mehbooba Mufti for seditious tweet
4/15/2019 10:20:27 PM
Early Times Report
Jammu, Apr 15: Jammu-based eminent social activist Sukesh C Khajuria has filed a complaint in the interest of free & fair elections with the Election Commission of India (ECI) against former J&K Chief Minister & President of People's Democratic Party (PDP) Mehbooba Mufti for violation of Model Code Of Conduct (MCC) for the ongoing parliamentary elections for the Lok sabha 2019 polls. Sukesh c.Khajuria former member of prominent citizens advisory committee constituted by J&K government has sought legal action under Representation of peoples Act 1951 & other relevant provisions of laws of the state including IT Act 2002 & Model Code of Conduct (MCC) against Mebooba Mufti a candidate for the Anantnag Lok Sabha constituency which goes to polls in three phases of election for her seditious tweet dated April 8, 2019 at 04.49 pm which has been made solely to destabilize India i.e. for separation of J&K from Indian Union.
Ms. Mehbooba Mufti, PDP Chief & former Chief Minister of J&K whose tweets often grab headlines, has tweeted on April 8, 2019 "Why waste time in court, wait for BJP to scrap article 370. It will automatically debar us from fighting elections since Indian constitution won't be applicable to J&K anymore. Khajuria stated that Mehbooba Mufti since being a candidate for the Lok Sabha Elections, she has affirmed her oath in the Indian constitution but her tweet Dt. 08 April, 2019 is blatantly seditious threatening unity and integrity of the country. Khajuria stated that despite having held a constitutional post of the Chief Minister of J&K and fully conscious of Section 3 of J&K constitution that J&K is and shall remain an integral part of India; she willfully and consciously made a comment which is in violation of the Constitution openly supporting the cause of separatism.
