| STATE SIKH LEADERS NOT HAPPY WITH RIVAL FACTIONS OF AKALI DAL | | | Jammu, July 06 : Images of warring factions of Akali Dal clashing with each other inside Golden temple on the occasion of 400th celebrations of Akal Takht has not gone down well the leaders of several Sikh organizations in Jammu and Kashmir as well. Presiding a meeting of several prominent sikh leaders, Mr S.S.Wazir, a former President of the state Gurdwara Prabandhak Board, along with other Sikh leaders described the clash between the supporters of Akali Dal (B) and Akali Dal(A) as "shameful". The Sikh leaders said the incident could have been avoided adding that it had pained every member of the community.The leaders regretted that Sikh leaders came to blows in the holy premises where the Guru Granth Sahib was installed. The leaders, including Mr Narbir Singh,Mr Mohinder Singh and Mr Paramjit Singh, appealed to the Jathedar of Akal Takht "not to become a party in the dispute." They said that the Jathedar had not bee able to control the "free for all" situation in the Golden temple. The Sikh leaders requested the Jatehdar not to side with Mr Prakash Singh Badal and instead summon him,Mr Simranjit Singh Maan and their supporters to the Akal Takht for tendering an apology. They also suggested to him to convene a meeting of leaders of various Sikh organisations from all parts of the country so that steps were drawn for a ban on any political activity within the holy place.The Jathedar was also requested to impose a ban on every Sikh leader for trying to make a political speech or for indulging in any political activity in Golden temple.
