Kashmir 'thankless' to CRPF for saving polling officer's life

Early Times Report
SRINAGAR, Apr 19: Even as the Central Reserve Police Force or CRPF saved life of a Kashmiri government official who suffered heart attack during recently polling, the Kashmiri politicians and others have not even thanked the paramilitary force.
Officials said on the morning of April 18, when the polling was underway for the Srinagar parliament seat, a polling officer Ahsan Ul Haq on duty at Buch Pora polling booth suffered heart attack.
Officials said Constable Surendra Kumar of 28 Batallion who was on duty immediately contacted his medical team, who guided him over the phone on how to undertake preliminary medical procedures like "CRP" on the patient.
The CRPF also instantly sent its ambulance to take the patient to the hospital.
Doctors said the timely intervention of the jawans saved the precious life.
Even though the news of the CPRF jawan saving life of a government employee on poll duty spread like wildfire, the Kashmiri politicians haven't even bothered to thank the forces.
While the regional parties and others have been silent, they otherwise miss no opportunity to take dig at the security for having resorted to alleged "human rights violations in Kashmir."
"If forces try to get rid of anti-national sentiment they are accused of rights abuse but here when a jawan has saved a human life entire Kashmir is silent," said a senior official on the condition of anonymity.
Even the so called civil society of Kashmir has been silent on the issue. "If a stone pelter would have been chased away, this civil society would have raised a hue and cry but this time they are silent," said one government official.
It is pertinent to mention that for the last few months the politicians from Kashmir are accusing the security forces for having taken things for granted in the valley.
But when it comes to thanking the brave forces for their gesture of humanity these prominent faces of Kashmir remain silent.
