| Board favours deploying force | | Preventing devotees from visiting Amarnath shrine before schedule | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Apr 30 Amarnath Shrine Board authorities are not ready to accept any responsibility for the event in which some devotees were found to have visited the mountain cave ,situated at a height of 13500 ft in eastern Kashmir,in recent days. A Shrine Board official said that it was unfortunate that some devotees were able to enter into the holy cave about 45 days before the start of the annual yatra. He said that this could again result in the early melting of the ice lingam for which later people blame the Shrine Board. In reply to a question he said that the state Government should take cognizance of the violation of the guidelines set by the Board. The official said that it is not in hands of the Shrine Board to deploy security forces to prevent devotees from trekking to the holy cave weeks before the start of the annual yatra. He said the state Government was competent to sending some companies of security forces to Baltal for stopping pilgrims from moving towards the cave. He said that if proper patrolling was not carried out right now the holy shrine could be targeted by the militants. He said the state Government should issue guidelines to taxi operators, poney wallas and other guides so that they do not assist devotees from outside the state to move to the holy cave weeks before the schedule of the annual pilgrimage. |
