Jammu | Apr 30
Two prominent leaders of the Panun Kashmir, a frontal organization of Kashmiri Pandits living in exile, Dr Ajay Chrungoo and Dr Agnishekhar on Wednesday jointly addressed a press conference and censured PM’s 1600 crore package for the rehabilitation of the Kashmiri pandits in harsh words.
Facing the press together after a long gap, both the leaders utilized the occasion to forge unity bonds and even invited other refugee groups including West Pakistani and POK refugees to join hands together in condemning Prime Ministers 1600 crore package.
Labeling it as a sinister design and a bigger conspiracy, Panun Kashmir leaders said the PM’s announcement has caused bad feelings against Kashmiri hindus rather than acting as balm on their wounds. He said the announcement made by the Prime Minister has tried to pit the interests of displaced Kashmiri hindus against aggrieved and devastated border migrants,POK reugees or internally displaced Hindus of Jammu.
Addressing media persons Dr Chrungoo said the PM’s package is mischievously projected as an exclusive package for Kashmiri Hindus .The truth is it also incorporates elements which have nothing to do with displaced Kashmiri hindus.
He said the so called package trivializes the issue of cleansing of Kashmiri hindus and conveys a spirit of abdication of responsibility by the government to reverse the genocide of kashmiri hindus.Dr Agnishekhar said by reducing the issue of genocide to merely constructing a shelter in Kashmir valley, that too in hostile environs, the UPA government has displayed a lack of vision in confronting the larger challenge of Jihadi terrorism. If having a house in Kashmir was the only problems for Kashmir Hindus then none amaongst them would have left Kashmir in 1990.Why did not even a single Kashmiri Hindus family return to the so called clusters in Budgam and Mattan? Dr Chrungoo said the central government has announced availability of funds where there are no takers. It has desisted from announcing the relief, where it was required the most.It should have addressed the issues of forcible and fraudulent grab oif pandit property and shrines, end to the process of acquiring pandit property for so-called public utility purposes by the state government, compensation and release of rental arrears for Hindu houses occupied by the security forces, waving of loans and income tax for traders, comprehensive employment package. Dr Chrungoo said the UPA government by announcing this package has demonstrated its inaptitude and abject failure in comprehending the real challenges to the return of kashmiri pandits to Kashmir valley.
