| PHEEWA demands uniformity in wages | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Apr 30 Remembering the sacrifices and contributions of Martyrs for safeguarding the interests of the labour class, Public Health Engineering Employees Welfare Association has demanded uniformity in the payment of wages to the daily rated workers. Addressing a meeting convened to observe the World May Day tomorrow, Rattan Doshi, general secretary of the association took strong exception to the inflationary trends in the economic process pursued by the state government leading to steep hike in the prices of essential commodities. He said failure to neutralize the price hike has further burdened the common man and held both the centre and state governments responsible for anti-people and anti-employee economic policy. Making a dig at the government for exploiting the labour class, Rattan Doshi has demanded grant of Rs.2500 per month as interim relief to the state government employees pending implementation of the 6th Pay Commission recommendations, besides enhancing the wages of the daily wagers working in the department as per the Minimum Wages Act. Those present at the meeting were Balbir Rai, B S Pinka, Ravi Kant, Brij Nath, Amrik Singh, K K Verma, Sanjay Bali, Fazal Din, Gagan Deep Singh, Mangat Ram, Kulwant Raj, Bashir Ahmed, Dess Raj, Sohan Lal and Jasbir Singh Dutta. |
