| Cabinet expansion evokes mixed reactions | | Jammu distt. Given Raw deal | | JAMMU: The much-awaited cabinet reshuffle in J&K has evoked mixed responses. While the PDP id much more satisfied over the inclusion of five of its MLA’s in today’s expansion, the other alliance partners of the coalition have expressed their unhappiness for not giving them due representation in the Council of ministers. More so, the representative of SC/ST and women organizations of the state are jittery for not giving any representation any sections. Commenting on today’s expansion, Prof. Bhim Singh of Panthers, said that his party, being an alliance partner of the coalition govt. was not consulted nor any of its representative has been inducted in the cabinet. He said the selection of nominees for Cuncil of ministers though being perogative of the CM was finalized in Delhi Congress President and the Prime Minster themselves. Saying that he was not bothered about he inclusion of his party MLA’s in the ministry, Prof. Singh, said his first and foremost priority was to work for the people and serve them though being out of power. PDP President, Mehbooba Mufti, expressed satisfaction over today’s expansion in which the PDP got five berths in the council of ministers. Reacting on Mohd. Sultanpandit Puri (MLC), PDP that Kupwara was denied representation, Mehbooba said that the party had no MLA in the dist. And maintained that the decision taken by the party is supreme. PDF leader Usman Majid, when contacted by early times, alleged that PDF was not consulted prior to cabinet expansion, not it has been given any representation, adding that party is keeping the vigil over the developments unfolding in the state. Provincial President, National Conference, Ajay Sadhotra, alleged that Jammu district has been given a raw deal and no representation has been given to Poonch and Doda districts and also SC/ST and the women. BJP state President, Dr. Nirmal Singh, when contacted on phone at Srinagar, told ET, that many areas have been neglected in today’s expansion. More so there has been no representation to SC/ST and women in the council of ministry. In Jammu district where the Congress had won 8 out of 13 seats in last 2002 Assembly elections has been given a raw deal. Only one representative from the district, i.e Mangat Ram Sharma, is the only MLA from the Jammu distt. in the present cabinet, whereas the Baramulla has got the Lion’s Share, where 3 MLA’s are holding the cabinet rank besides a deputy speaker. A Congress leader on conditions of anonymity, said that “ it will be difficult for the party repeat its 2002 performance from Jammu district in 2008”. “ In fact those party Legislators, who enjoy party’s support have been ignored, thus clearing desks for BJP to stage a comeback in next assembly poll,’ he added.
