5 Sector RR dedicates cricket stadium to the people of Rafiabad

In order to channelize the energies of youth and develop sports mindset and spirit among them in remote villages, 5 sector Rashtriya Rifles dedicated Cricket Stadium to the people and youth of Rafiabad in Baramulla.
Constructed by 32 R.R under operation Sadhbavna at Hadipora Rafiabad in Baramulla, the stadium was inaugurated today by GOC Kilo Force Major General Rajinder Singh.
Speaking to the gathering of sports lovers, students, and prominent citizens, GOC Kilo Force Major General Rajinder Singh, said that such type of facilities will help in organizing the events in which sports is major part that not only makes the person physically agile and alert but also help in mental growth owing to the inculcation of brotherhood and sense of harmony and cooperation.
He added that creating sports infrastructure in the rural areas is aimed at to bridge the gap between army and Awam (people) public and to utilize the energy of youth towards constructive activities like sports.
Earlier while welcoming the guests, Commanding Officer 5 Sector R.R Brigadier Bipin Rawath said that there is no dearth of talent in the north Kashmir and rural talent is exceptional one but the need was to polish their capabilities to enable them to compete at national and international level.
Adding he said that providing such kind of sports facilities would not only encourage the participation of the youth in sports activities but also help in boosting the sports in the valley. He said that the sports activities are very vital in development of the overall personality of youth, and by encouraging such events would go long way in polishing the talent of youth in general and rural in particular.
People of the areas and sports lovers while hailing the army's efforts said, "We are highly thankful to army which has been developing sports infrastructure in these rural villages."
Prior to the inauguration of the stadium, hundreds of youth participated in Race for Peace which started from Govt. Higher Secondary School Tragpora to Hadipora stadium.
Many prominent citizens and luminaries were also present including officials of the civil administration.
