286680 pilgrims from 20 states to visit Amarnath shrine

The spiritual festivity is back on the air and security concerns are at priority, as registration for Jammu and Kashmir’s famed annual religious tourism began today.
As many as 472 pilgrims got have themselves registered for paying obeisance to the Shiv Lingam at to the south Kashmir cave shrine as registration for annual Amarnath yatra commenced across the country today. Earlier, the Sri Baba Amarnath Shrine Board had cleared the schedule for two month yatra beginning June 18.
With a view of proportional distribution and equal opportunity, the Board has already fixed quota for all states and in Jammu and Kashmir the quota has been fixed at district level.
The prospective devotees have the option of registering themselves at 100 different branches of Jammu and Kashmir Bank across the country. The registration will continue till July 30.
The registration process for the annual pilgrimage has started and a total number of 2, 86,680 pilgrims would be registered across the country by the bank branches. In Jammu city, the Bank has set up a counter at exhibition ground for the registration which will remain open from 3 pm to 6 pm on week days and on Saturday from 1 pm to 4 pm.
The pilgrims will get an insurance cover from Bajaj Alliance on payment of premium fixed and the same will be valid for Jammu-Srinagar and return to Jammu. Each devotee will have pay Rs 24 and will cover only the route from Jammu to Amarnath and return to Jammu.
The total number of pilgrims allowed to pay obeisance at the shrine is 286680 including 12960 from Jammu and Kashmir. The further district-wise breakup in Jammu and Kashmir is: 9000 pilgrims for Jammu, 1200 for Srinagar, 720 for Kathua, 480 for Rajouri, 480 for Poonch while 600 pilgrims would be registered from Udhampur.
