| MIER students Celebrate Gujarat Day | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | May 3 A colourful cultural programme was organized to celebrate Gujarat Day at MIER in collaboration with “Mission 2020” a voluntary organization and the Gujarat State Govt. The programme was presented by Venubharati a cultural group, from Gujarat who have been deputed specially to the state of J & K for performing cultural programmes and promoting brotherhood. Present on the occasion were Dr Renu gupta Director MIER, Dr Adit Gupta, Joint Director, Dr Surinder Kour Co- Usha Gadoo Vice –Principal and members of the voluntary organisation along with other staff members and students of the school, college of education and ETTC/NTTC wing of MIER. Dr. Adit Gupta welcomed the chief guest and other dignitaries and performers from Gujarat. He introduced the organizers of this event and also highlighted the importance of their mission in promoting cultural interaction between various regions of our country. During this programme, a group consisting of 25 artists from Venubhararti group presented beautiful dance items depicting the diverse culture of Gujarat State. The programme started with Dandia dance and various forms of the Raas were also presented. A Patriotic song and a Kashmiri dance was also presented in an hour long function. Students of MIER enjoyed and applauded every movement of the dancers amidst loud cheers. Dr. Renu Gupta, Director MIER , who was the chief guest on this occasion, praised the step being taken for exchange of culture through such programmes. She also motivated the students of MIER to learn the Gujarati folk dance and guided them to create a group from J & K so that a cultural exchange programme can be organized in Gujarat State in order to further enhance the spirit of national integration. She thanked the performers involved in this exchange programme and asked them to come again and interact with a larger audience in the institution. On behalf of the Mission 2020 , a memento was also presented to the chief guest Dr. Renu Gupta. The function was concluded with a group photograph with all the participants from Gujarat. |
